How we rank results
Last updated: October 2026
The rule
We rank places and businesses the same way for everyone, and nobody can pay to move up in this order.
First: what enters the list
We only show what is published and matches the category, the area and the filters you chose, and what is open now if you asked for that.
Then: the “Best match” order
We take into account:
- How well it matches your search: the name, the category and the description.
- The rating, weighted so that two or three reviews don't outweigh the whole picture.
- The number of reviews.
- How complete the page is: photos, hours and contact channels.
- How fresh the information is: when the owner last confirmed their hours and prices.
- The distance from you if you shared your location, or from the centre of the area.
- Whether it is open now, in categories where time matters, such as restaurants.
- New businesses get a short boost for 30 days after they publish, so they can be seen.
No more than 2 results from the same owner appear in the first 10.
Orders you choose yourself
- “Best match”: the default order above.
- “Nearest”: distance first.
- “Top rated”: the rating, then the number of reviews; anything with fewer than 3 reviews comes after.
What never affects the order
Ads and campaigns, points, promotions, the verification level beyond what it adds to page completeness, owner replies to reviews, and the preferences of Traylo staff.
And ads?
Ads are separate from this order: they appear at fixed positions (2 and 7), carry the word “Ad”, and the first result is never an ad. An ad never changes the order of other results or the reviews. The details are in the ads policy.
When we change something
We review and improve how we rank, and we update this page when what we take into account changes.
